I totally agree with Karen Carpenter that Mondays are a drag (and you know I’ll include a link to that song somewhere in this post). Mondays are undoubtedly my least favorite day of the week … but Fridays are my favorite. And rainy days? Well, don’t even get me started.
We’re slated for three to five inches of rain here this week, and I’m loving it! Bring on the big-mama drops, puddles, and sheets of gulley-washing rain. When our backyard turns into a veritable lake, I can pretend we have waterfront property.
From a friend, I’ve recently learned that I’m a pluviophile (a person who loves rainy days). Maybe this explains why I basically love any of the four corners of Britain, where rain is right and regular.
I am sensitive that rain is terribly debilitating for some people. Seasonal Affective Disorder is not a joke, and I have friends who are truly flattened by it. For me, rain has the opposite effect. In fact, rainy days are my most creative times. I can work for concentrated hours spinning stories, whereas sunny days are a distraction–uninspiring and ordinary. Rain is strikingly beautiful and calming and inspirational.
And as promised…
How do you feel about rainy days?
Love both the pictures you posted here! I like some rain. And I love thunderstorms. On good rainy days I feel cozy and have the urge to clean out and organize stuff. But too many days of it in a row make me start feeling depressed.

I think most people feel that way. I could see where weeks of the stuff would be maddening!

I love rainy days as long as I don’t have to drive it. I’m usually depressed, but rainy days lift my spirits quite a bit!
