R is for Requiem

I’m always on the lookout for a new show. This past week, I’ve found one tailor-made for me and anyone who loves a gothic setting and a scary, supernatural mystery with thrills and chills.

Requiem is a Netflix original in conjunction with the BBC and stars Lydia Wilson (from Star Trek) as Matilda, a famous cellist with family issues and revolving door of strange men. When a particularly disturbing event occurs involving her mother, Matilda goes on a quest to a mysterious estate in Wales to uncover secrets from her past.

There are a lot of twists and turns, even in the first episode, so I don’t want to give too much away, but if you’re looking for a wild ride–during which you will genuinely gasp and probably even shield your eyes once or twice–this show delivers. Requiem boasts a superb cast (Brendan Coyle from Downton Abbey, Tara Fitzgerald from stage and screen, and Sian Reese-Williams from Emmerdale all give outstanding performances).

In short, this is a classy mystery/thriller/horror with lots of unexpected moments set in the gorgeous Welsh countryside. I recommend watching it … but maybe not at night … and definitely not alone.

What shows are you currently watching?

  1. Sounds like a fun show. I am unfortunately not watching anything right now… Work keeps me too busy. My spare time goes to blogging and LEGO mostly. I used to watch a lot of super hero shows (Arrow, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, etc). I do love Game of Thrones too…
