Girl meets vampire. Girl loses vampire and settles for wolf instead. Or phantom. Or hybrid. Or shapeshifter.
Paranormal romance is a bit of strange concept. But it’s incredibly popular.
For those who aren’t quite sure what a paranormal romance is, it’s a genre that amalgamates romance, speculative, fantasy, and horror. I may not be getting that definition one hundred percent right, but I think I’m pretty close to the mark. If you’re not familiar with the books, you might be familiar with some of the TV shows that feature paranormal romance like The Vampire Diaries or Supernatural.
I did a little research on Amazon and Barnes and Noble, and I’ve found my favorite three titles in the genre. I have not read any of them, mind you, but that doesn’t mean I might not do so in the near future!
The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires by Molly Harper
I’m sorry, but the title alone makes me want to buy this book. And, I mean, it involves vampires, so I’m in.
High Voltage by Karen Marie Moning
I just love this cover! And the story sounds interesting. It’s a little more science fiction, but it includes a Fairie Queen and a Hoar Frost King and a girl who’s been transformed into a killer. I like the concept.
A Snare of Vengeance by Bella Forrest
Although I haven’t read this particular book, I have read the first in the series, and it was everything you’d expect from a paranormal romance–ethereal and magical and romantic. And her covers rock!
Do you read paranormal romance?

London,
Hi, I’m a first time visitor. I am exploring the A2Zers linked up this morning. In recent years I’ve become a paranormal romance fan. I like the popular TV show The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, and True Blood, even the older ones Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. But, reading anything longer than blog post or magazine article is a bit of challenge ever since I became a mother 30-years ago. I read a lot to my kids but nothing for myself of great length. I keep saying I really need to slow my brain down and give reading a try but something always gets in the way like my recent passions art sketching which brings me to why not stop by for a look at today’s latest, A2Z iPad Art Sketch! ‘P’ is for Prince Charming & His Princess. Have a good day!

I am a huge fan of paranormal fiction, be it romances, more of an urban fantasy bent, or what have you. (If you’re curious, I have a books tag that will take you to posts on some of the ones I’ve enjoyed – but only if you feel like it.) But I won’t lie – I do like being swept away to wild adventure and hot men…
